Missed the last 1st Monday?
Did you miss the 1st Monday meeting? We had a great time of hearing from the Elders, about the next steps for SCBC, financial update and about the pastoral search process. We need your help!
The Campus Crusader’s come in town each year to help in ministry & join us in worship for their summer stay. They are in need of some children’s items for their stay here at the Peter Pan. They need: one double stroller, two Pack and Play cribs, three high chairs, one swing, and one infant play mat. They would consider it a luxury to have a small play structure and donated toys and books. For more information call Ani x 247.

 

Mom’s Playgroup
Parent Participation Preschool Playgroup started, Wednesdays May 7th from 9:30-11:30am and will meet every Wednesday. Please, come and join the fun! For more details, call Katie Jesse at 439-1710.

 

Memorial Weekend BBQ
You are invited to the 15th Annual Memorial Weekend BBQ on Sunday, May 25!! This year we are having the BBQ at SCBC after the Single Sunday Service. Along with a full BBQ lunch, the day will include a wide variety of events such as the Climbing Wall, Gold Panning, Jump
Houses and the Barrel Ride. This is going to be a wonderful time of food, fellowship and fun for the young and young at heart!! Would you like to help us that Sunday? Call Larry, ext. 211 or Ida, ext. 223.

 

Men’s Breakfast
You are invited to attend the Men’s Breakfast, Sat. May 17 at 8 am. Join us in the Student Center for wonderful food, fellowship, worship and an inspiring message by one of our own, Dom Passanisi. Dom has a multifaceted experience as a Pastor as well as an effective lay leader. Currently he is leading the Sunday morning class, The Breakfast Club, as well as facilitating a vital home small group.

 

Vacation Bible Camp 2008
June 23-27 is the dates for Vacation Bible Camp 2008. VBC is open to children ages 3 years old through those entering 4th grade in the fall of 2008. We also offer a quality preschool program. Kids will enjoy high quality Bible teaching, crafts, skits, games, snacks, great worship, and a t-shirt. To sign up, visit the table in foyer, drop by the office or go on line.

Want to be part of a fun group of people who get together each Friday morning to put together the bulletin for the weekend service? Then join us at 8:30am in WC10 ~ we would love to have you there!

 

Elevation
Elevation begins a new 6 week series this Sunday called “Free”. This series will explore Christian freedom and responsibility. What does it really mean “to stumble a brother or sister” and how do we avoid this? How do we live free while pursuing holiness and living a life that makes Jesus get smile lines on His wonderful face? Come find out! Service begin at 6:30 – see you there!

 

Young Adults Summer Trip ~ Watermaina
WATERMANIA 2008 is June 20 -22!
SAVE THE DATE NOW! Watermania will be at Lake Tulloch June 20 -22! This is a weekend you won't want to miss! Waterskiing, wakeboarding, cliff jumping, tubing, relaxing in the sun and just having a BLAST! More information coming soon at Cornerstone the first couple of weeks of April! SonShine Marriage
Sonshine Marriage Group is an opportunity to get out there, have some fun and engage in healthy activities. We encourage suggestions for events that range from the museum to baseball games, bonfires to bowling teams, white water rafting to the symphony and everything in between. The only criterion is that is can be done together. Sunday Morning Breakfast Club!
Want to meet people at Santa Cruz Bible Church in a smaller environment? Join us each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in room WC10. As a class we will cover a variety of topics and talk through discussions. MOMs Prayer Group
Mothers of Military Services meet the first Saturday of each month to pray for children in the military, their families, and our country’s leadership. You are invited to join us at 9am in the Santa Cruz Bible Church Prayer Room. For more info, call Beth Spears 429-1162 x 521.

 

Women’s Prayer Group
If you are a woman with a heart for prayer, you are invited to join the SCBC Women’s Prayer Warriors Ministry Team! We meet in WC10 from 10:30am to 12pm the last Monday of each month for wonderful fellowship and prayer for the women on our SCBC staff. All are welcome.

Men's Fishing Retreat
Calling all Fisherman to our Tenth Annual Men's Fishing Retreat. The retreat is June 27-29 and will cost is $80 if paid by June 8, then $90 after June 9th. This includes Lunch Friday to Lunch on Sun Tri tip BBQ Sat night and of course your campsite We will be at Jackson Meadows Reservoir (45 min out of Truckee) a beautiful lake, with great fishing, hiking and many more activities. SCBC Scholarship Opportunity
We want to make you aware that SCBC offers financial scholarships for students in college who are preparing for Christian Ministry. These can be first time entry college young people or older students returning to college to obtain degrees that will help them in their already established ministries.
How do I qualify?
- you need to be involved in SCBC
- you need to be headed into Christian Ministry

Pipeline Presents
Pipeline presents The Classic Crime on May 30th, with doors opening at 6:30pm. The Classic Crime is a new take on an old rock n’ roll sound for a generation hungry to be heard. The vocals are

Kids Zone
Kids Zone elementary is looking for loving, caring people who would like to impact a child’s life! Opportunities are available to serve either at 9 or 11 am. You can help lead worship, be a puppeteer, or lead a small group of elementary age children. Come serve with an incredible group of people! Call Colleen x 219 for more information.

 

Adopt-a-Chaplain
SCBC is privileged to have the opportunity to adopt 2 new army chaplains, and through them, bless and support our troops in Iraq . Chaplain Major Mike Patterson is w/the 2-25 battalion in Iraq . He is married and has 3 children. He is based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii . This is his first deployment since joining the army as a chaplain. Chaplain Patterson's unit will be assuming the coffee house and its ministry that Ch. Hawkins started, which includes the slushie machine that came from SCBC. Chaplain Major Willliam "Chip" Nicholas is with the 3rd battalion combat team 4th ID in Iraq . He is married and has 2 children. He is based out of Ft. Bragg , North Carolina . He is the brigade chaplain w/8 chaplains serving under him throughout Iraq . Our most current and urgent needed items for this ministry include: beef jerky (most popular item), protein bars, coffee (ground or whole bean), tea, canned fruit (individual serving size), microwave popcorn and macaroni/cheese, powdered drink mixes (individual serving size), odor eater foot inserts, gold bond foot powder, postage for shipping, and ALWAYS cards/ letters to our troops. All items can be dropped in the camouflage donation bin located in the worship center foyer. If you prefer we do the shopping for you, checks should be made out to SCBC with "adopt-a-chaplain" in the memo line. Please be praying for our new chaplains, their troops, and their families. Preschool News
What to make a big difference… Our Children’s Ministry Dept needs caring individuals to impact the lives of our youngest SCBC family members. There are several opportunities at the 11:00 hour.
~Nursery: the first and third week of each month
~Two Year Olds: the first and third week of each month
~Three Year Olds: the first week of each month
~Four Year Olds: the third week of each month

Is a caring group of couples who share about the rewards and challenges they have. They will be kicking off Jan 13th and meets each Sunday at 11am in AC-21.

 

CornerstoneCornerstone: SCBC Young Adults Community We are a community of college and older, single and married people, who come together to worship, learn, serve, and enjoy fellowship. The SCBC Clothes Closet is closed. Thank you for all of you who have donated closed and served to faithfully!

 

Food Pantry Needs
We need brown bags to pack the food, jelly, soups, stew, Canned pastas i.e. spaghetti o's, ravioli's, toilet paper, shampoo (reg or small bottles) tooth brushes, tooth paste, canned fruit and vegetables (nothing fresh), Mac & cheese or other pastas similar to that, tuna, chicken and instant oatmeal (individual pkgs). Thank you for your donations for our local community. Please place donations in the green bins in the Worship Center foyer.
