Growth Groups
People grow in growth groups! Churches grow because of Growth groups! Growth Groups are a key indicator of church health. With that said we want every SCBC’er to join a Fall Growth Group! You can sign up this weekend, by filling out the insert in your bulletin. Starting next week you can register online or contact Darren at x281. If you are a returning leader, we want you to attend Flight/Ready School, Tues night, Sept 7 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the Coffee Shop.
Growth Group Leaders Training
We are so excited about this year’s Growth Groups! Don’t forget that we have our Dinner and Vision Night for all new and returning facilitators on Tuesday, September 7 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the SCBC Coffeehouse. Music Movement and Me
Join us at our new time, every Wednesday, from 10:00am-11:00 am, as we learn rhythm, movement, large motor skills such as tumbling, balance, basic sports and good sportsmanship skills! Playtime for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents. In addition, we will hear the occasional story from our gifted story teller Colleen Kennedy. Parent participation is required. It’s AWANA Time
Awana is a parent-driven ministry that shapes your child through the limitless power of God's word. Awana staff and trained leaders, together with parents, create a spiritually nurturing environment to help kids grow in their knowledge of Scripture and their walk of faith.
Awana at Santa Cruz Bible Church is open to children ages 3 1/2 years through 5th grade. Kids don't have to attend SCBC, or any other church, to participate. Invite your friends and neighbors! DIVORCECARE
DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face separation and divorce challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has three distinct elements: video seminar featuring top experts, real-life case studies, followed by smaller support group time. DivoreCare meets Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm in the Coffee Shop (AC10). A new session begins Monday, Sept 20. Childcare can be arranged with advance notice. For more information call x260.
KIDS CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE
Kids Caught In the Middle starts Sept 20, from 6:30-8:30pm (during DivorceCare). Children can become overwhelmed when families go through separation and divorce. This interactive program provides kids with a Christ centered approach to cope with their feelings. There is a $15 materials fee. For more info, call Ani Salisbury at x247.
Finanical Peace University
The introductory Financial Peace University class will be Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 PM in AC 20-21. (On September 28 we’ll do the introductory class again.) Come check out what Financial Peace University is all about, with no commitment. You can register for the class at either of the first two gatherings. Books and materials are $100.00. Holy Land
After researching what other Holy Land tour operators offer, we are positive the one we are planning for March 17-30 is one of the best for what you receive for your money. To get a good picture of the magnitude of this trip please pick up a brochure in the Worship Center common area and then plan to attend our dessert overview meeting at 3:00pm on Sunday, Sept 12 at SCBC.For more info, contact; Jim Seybert at 332-1481.
Golf at Seascape
SCBC has a once a month twilight golf recreational league at the Aptos Seascape course. We will meet monthly on Friday at 4:30pm, April through Oct for nine holes of golf. The cost is $16 walking & $26 with a cart. Everyone welcome, bring your friends, family and coworkers to join the fun. Sign up on-line at santacruzbible.org/sports/golf. Our next golf date is Sept. 17.
FREE CPR Classes
SCBC is working with DEFIBTHIS.com who are providing emergency response training to the community in CPR, first aid, disaster preparedness and childcare. They are offering us 4 different “free” Heartsaver CPR classes. Each class holds 10 people and and will be held here at SCBC. You can pick one of the following dates: Thur Sept 2 or 9 or 16. Women's Ministries
Fall session Bible studies are coming! Ladies, stop by the registration table in the lobby and check out our fall study series. Classes begin September 9, and there are morning and evening studies being offered. You can register at the lobby table or online.
2010 Football Fans
Hey Monday Night Football Fans... Men's Ministry will be hosting an All you can eat Pizza and watch Monday Night game at Tony and Albas on 41st ave. Community Outreach - Literacy Program
The Santa Cruz Literacy program is committed to empowering students by aiding individuals to reach personal goals and participate in their community. If you are interested, come to a one hour volunteer orientation here at SCBC in October. To sign up call the volunteer center at 427-5077 or sign up in the lobby at the local outreach table.
Singles Potluck
Single Adult Ministry (+35) at Santa Cruz Bible Church meet on Saturday, September 4 for their monthly potluck in AC10 at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share! Connect with God and each other in a safe and friendly environment! For more information, call Laura at 429-1162, ext. 215.
Car Care Clinic
Saturday, September 11 will be our next annual Car Care Clinic and we are already FULL with cars needing repairs. But we still need you! Men and women mechanics, parts drivers, car washers, food prep, child care workers, greeters/prayer team workers, or if you just want to help, we will find a place for you. Knit Wits- Begin Sept 8
Do you want to make new friends? Would you like to be part of a group of women who enjoy knitting and taking an active part in helping our community and beyond? Then Knit Wits is for you! Walk for Life ~ Santa Cruz Pregnancy Center

Adopt-a-Chaplain is a Christ-centered ministry that is dedicated to supporting our troops through the ministries of chaplains. Help SCBC to send a message that we care by sending care packages to chaplains serving in the Middle East and they distribute the items to our troops Our supplies are getting low and we need your help to love the men and women who are serving our country. Want to Make A Difference in YOUR Community
Beach Flats Community Center needs tutoring volunteer for their IMAGINE program. IMAGINE is a collaboration between The Beach Flats Community Center, Mercy Housing, and the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz County. The IMAGINE program offers an after-school enrichment and homework support program for K-12 students who are growing up in the Beach Flats and Lower Ocean Neighborhoods. pantry needs
This year more than ever families who were getting by before are not. There has been a huge need to help families in our community and out body with a simple box of food or meal. To help those who are in need we need you. You can help by purchasing much needed item for our food pantry. Our top most needed items are: canned fruit & Veggies, canned meats and fish, pasta and sauce, rice and beans, canned soup, low sugar cereals and oatmeal, boxed snacks. Other items needed are: Lg juice, refried beans, saltines, canned pastas, rice or pasta-roni, salt/pepper,, coffee/tea/filters, ketchup/mayo/mustard, bath soap bars, dish soap, detergent, oil, cookies, pudding or jello. Women's Prayer Group
The SCBC Women’s Prayer Warriors Ministry Team meets the last Mon of each month from 10:30am to 12:00pm in WC-10. We come together to fellowship, pray for our church, the staff and personal prayer request. Join us and be part of this exciting ministry and see all that Our God can do through prayer.
