Local Missions

The Local Mission Ministry team supports 12 different organization/ministries through your faith promise giving.  We not only give to them financially,  but we have formed partnership with these non-profit organization that focus on meeting specific need that are in our community.  It is our desire to link SCBC members to these different organizations and with

the opportunities they have to serve.

Cindy's Celebrations

SCBC member Cindy Lash had a passion and a heart for the elderly of Santa Cruz County and out of that Cindy’s Celebrations was born. Cindy’s Celebrations is dedicated to helping seniors live each day to the fullest by providing meals and daily outings to seniors within in the county. Pray for: *Volunteers to see the need and rise up *That seniors would see and feel the love of Christ through the service of the volunteers in the ministry

Elm St. Mission

Elm St. Mission is located in the heart of downtown. They reach out to the homeless and hurting in our county showing Christ’s love both through physical and spiritual needs providing clothes, food, sleeping bags and bibles. Pray for: *Individuals to hear the gospel and respond *Our eyes to be opened to the poor and hurting within the county

Intervarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity is a multi-ethnic community of students from various Christian backgrounds interested in following Jesus together at UCSC. We desire to grow in love for God, for students on campus, and the broader Santa Cruz community. They meet weekly to pray for each other, learn and worship. Pray for: *Open hearts on the UCSC campus *Good connections within the Intervarsity family on the campus

International Students Inc.

ISI reaches out to students on both the UCSC and Cabrillo campuses offering Bible studies and friendships to international students throughout the county. ISI’s goal is to share Christ’s love with international students throughout Santa Cruz county. Pray for: *Current and new students to reach out to international students *Christ’s love to have an effect through them in their home country

New Life Center

New Life opened as a shelter and private addiction treatment program in 1972. Their goal is to provide successful and healthy transition from addictions into productive living within the local community. Pray for: *Awakening within the county *New believers within the facility to be dedicated to Christ and their walk

Pajaro Rescue Missions

PRM serves over 75 meals and houses 35 people each night in the hopes of being a light to a darkened community in our county. They seek to lead people to the savior, disciple new believers and then see them share their faith with others Pray for: *Opportunities to share Christ’s love and truth *An increase in volunteers and funds to cover the needs of the ministry

Pregnancy Resource Center

The PRC is a local organization founded to direct and instruct women and local teens about the choice of life. They seek to educate the community about the sanctity that God puts on life. Pray for: *For youth in the schools to see the importance of abstinence *Success in helping women choose life over death

Pacific Youth Correctional Ministries

PYCM was founded in 1985 to provide chaplains, para-chaplains and Christian volunteers in correctional settings. They work together with local prisons to care for, guide and advise young inmates. Pray for: *Opportunities to share Christ with the youth in prisons *More chaplains and staff to rise up and serve the prison community

SC Bible Bags

SCBB seeks to provide for the basic necessities of the homeless in SC county through a warm nights sleep. They work together with the River Street Shelter and Elm St. Mission. Pray for: *Donations of sleeping bags *Homeless within SC county to open their hearts and minds and accept Jesus

SC Street Kitchen

Santa Cruz Street Kitchen serves meals with the hope of reaching out to the homeless community in Santa Cruz. By satisfying the physical needs of the individuals in the downtown area they can share God’s love and the hope of the gospel on a valuable level. Pray for: *Open doors for them to share the gospel *Provision for a new location to prepare and serve meals

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest provides food and basic necessities to 47,000 people a month including children, seniors and working poor families trying to make ends meet. We do this through a network of 180 non-profit agencies and programs. The mission of Second Harvest is to educate and involve individuals to end hunger and alleviate malnutrition in our communities.

Teen Challenge & Freedom Women's Center

Teen Challenge currently serves over 195 communities in the US and 550 worldwide. They function as a drug rehabilitation center and have one of the highest success rates anywhere in the world. Pray for: *Adults and teens to hear the gospel *Support and guidance for those in need and the centers in Watsonville.
