"What's Really Important in Ministry"
This week, we are so blessed to have Morris
Proctor as our special guest speaker. Morris (Moe) has
been a pastor-teacher for 25 years. After serving as
pastor for churches in Texas and Tennessee, he and
his wife Cindy, started MP Seminars in 1998 to equip
pastors, professors, and serious students of the Word,
to study the Bible with electronic resources. In
addition to presenting training seminars around the world,
Morris maintains a very active preaching / teaching ministry throughout
the body of Christ. Morris and Cindy along with their four children reside in
Murfreesboro, TN. Our prayer for you today is that you encounter God in a new
and fresh way that will help you grow in your Spiritual Journey as we learn out
of the book of Colossians.

to have a friend & former staff member to SCBC and
special guest speaker Kent DelHousaye. Our prayer for
you is that you encounter God in a new and fresh way
that will help you grow in your Spiritual Journey as we

sincerity and spiritual passion of the people. Married
in June 1996, their first son, Ethan, was born in 2006 and they welcomed the
arrival of a new baby son, Christian in March 2008. As a family, they enjoy
laughing and playing games together, taking long walks in the park, going to
the beach, taking in a good movie and relaxing with family and friends at home.

"Fizz: Carbonating Your Life With Joy"
This week, we are so
blessed to have a friend to SCBC and special guest
speaker Steve Clifford. Steve came to the church in a
very unusual way. He was not raised in a Christian home
and never intended to become a pastor after becoming a
Christian. Steve was a high school teacher and football
coach in Texas (Steve’s home-God’s dwelling place) and
did not enter into vocational ministry until the age of 30.
With a great wife (Dana) and two awesome sons (Josh and Clay) they began
the journey of Dallas Seminary and working at a church in Texas. Steve came
to California in 1991 and worked at Santa Cruz Bible church for 10 years before
joining Westgate Church in the summer of 2001.

"Christ in the Passover"
What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus’ Last
Supper have in common? David Brickner,
speaking on behalf of Jews for Jesus, will
answer that question in todays presentation
called “Christ in the Passover”.
David Brickner, has served with Jews for
Jesus for over 25 years and was unamimously
elected to head the inter-denominational
organization in May 1996. Brickner has written many books and articles from
a distinctly Jewish Christian perspecitve. His latest book is Christ in the Feast
of Pentecost. It is our prayer that you will gain insights on how the pieces of
God’s plan of salvation fit together, and you’ll remember this visual display of
the Passover pageantry for years to come.

"Its All About You, Jesus"
“It’s all about you, Jesus” – the words of the
powerful Matt Redman song does say it all. It
is all about the Lord Jesus Christ – the One
who left heaven to come to earth, who lived
a perfect, sinless life, who was crucified on a
cross, who rose from the dead, and who is now
living victoriously in heaven. The more we truly
grasp those facts and the more we give Him
our heart, the more we will want to worship Him in His majesty. Join me as we
catch a glimpse of the worship taking place in heaven, so that our worship and
our lives may be transformed here on earth today.

"Rest for the Weary and Burdened"
The New Year of 2008 has already posed some
challenges for our church body here at SCBC.
Several heart breaking losses of loved ones,
numerous illnesses and life-threatening diseases,
and a general feeling of “winter weariness” have
impacted just about all of us in one way or another.
Add to that financial concerns, job security issues,
conflicts in relationships, and the pressure of
personal addictions and we are all forced to look for
someone or something for help.
Fortunately, the Bible has a clear understanding of what can be done to provide Rest
for the Weary & Burdened. Join us today as we look at Jesus’ wonderful invitation for
us to come to Him and experience the “rest” only He can give!

"I Want to Be What I am Not"
As we close out 2007 and sing the last carols celebrating
the birth of Jesus, we look to the new year curious about
what it will bring. Some people optimistically make New Year’s
resolutions but wonder if this will be the year they actually
become who they want to be. This weekend, please listen to

"A Time for Forgiveness & Hope"
While the start of the Christmas season should provide
us with a wonderful sense of joy and excitement, it
often does just the opposite. Pressures in the work
place, conflicts in our relationships, troubles with the
kids, and concerns about finances, combined with the
stress of a hectic schedule can make for a feeling of
detachment and discouragement.
But fortunately, the Bible tells us how we can regain
that feeling of optimism and encouragement. Join us for

"Celebrate God"
Celebrations are landmarks in life. We celebrate first
birthdays and fiftieth anniversaries; weddings and
graduations; achievements and awards. Today we
Celebrate God with great praise at the completion
of our 21 Days of Impact. For the last 3 weeks we
have prayed and prepared for the impact that we, as
a Christian community, had on our county yesterday.
Celebrations are also prompts to move ahead… to
the 2nd birthday and the 51st anniversary and to
greater accomplishments. May today’s celebration
be your prompt to continue in prayer and service to
others, so that one day soon we as a Church can
celebrate when each person in Santa Cruz County has had the opportunity to trust Jesus Christ
as their Savior and Lord.

"Excel in the Grace of Giving"
The Bible reminds us that as followers of
Christ, we are to pursue excellence in all areas
of our life. Colossians 3:23 says Whatever
you do, work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not for men. The striving
for excellence honors the Lord and allows us
to be used by Him in a powerful way.
In today’s passage the Apostle Paul teaches
us to “excel in everything” - especially in the
“grace of giving.”

"Love God, Love Others, Serve the World"
There’s been lots of excitement about our
new SCBC Mission Statement: “Love God,
Love Others, Serve the World.” Now we
have the responsibility of living out this
directive not only in our church, but also
in our families, in our ministries, in our
community, and in all of our activities. But,
what does that look like? How do we, as
individuals, and corporately, as the Church,
truly demonstrate our love for God and
others and how do we go about serving the world? Join us as we take an in-depth look

"Finding Fulfillment"
Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus
was driven by His mission. He said in
Matthew 20, “We are going up to
Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be
betrayed to the chief priests and the
teachers of the law. They will condemn
him to death and will turn him over to the
Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and
crucified. On the third day, he will be raised
to life.” The cross and the empty tomb were
always before Jesus, keeping Him focused on His mission.
As we unveil our new SCBC Mission Statement today, may it serve to keep
us, as the people of God, focused on the biblical mandate the Lord has called
us to pursue, for His Honor and Glory.

"Expect the Unexpected"
“God works in mysterious ways”! We’ve
all heard that phrase before. But, I think
a better way of saying it is “God works in
unexpected ways”! Whether by parting the
Red sea, speaking through a burning bush
(or a donkey!) or defeating overwhelming
armies without a fight, God’s Spirit is truly
able to do amazing things. We should come
to “expect the unexpected”. And we will see
that as we look at the life of Gideon today.
I believe that we, as the people of God and the church of God, should anticipate
this next season of ministry in this way, “expecting the unexpected”!

Have you ever heard the phrase “An

unsung hero is someone who is willing

“Unsung Hero” from the pages of the New Testament, and

Old Testament Book of Daniel.
The challenges Daniel and his friends
faced over 2,500 years ago aren’t
very different from ones we face
today as we try to stand for God in
an ungodly world. Daniel struggled
to make choices that would honor
God and be consistent with his faith.
When faced with the hard question of,
“Deal or No Deal”, Daniel consistently
made the right choice and set a great
example for each of us.

How Great is Our God
NO FEAR! Easy to say but not
so easy to do. Our fears fill our
thoughts: health, relationships, kids,
parents, future, terrorism, jobs… the
list is endless. The Psalms proclaim
that our great God is our Fortress.
Let’s look together at Psalm 46
and discover what our Fortress
provides, helping us to face our
fears and conquer them with the
Lord’s strength.

Women of Promise
We will look at the women
God intentionally placed in the
lineage of Jesus and will discover
that God’s amazing plan used many
different women to bring us the gift
of salvation through His Son. May
this be a great reminder to us of
God’s ability to take our lives, as varied
and imperfect as they may be, and use
them to His glory if we are yielded to Him.

A Heart for Missions
Uganda. A country that most of us know little about and that we remember
vaguely from news reports years ago. But Uganda is home to Jackson
Senyonga, today’s guest speaker. Jackson has an exciting ministry that
is having an impact on the entire nation.
Thousands of lives are being changed because
Jesus is being boldly proclaimed and the Church
is caring for the “least of these” who are caught
in the throes of AIDS, hunger and disease.
Jackson’s message is relevant not only to his
fellow countrymen, but to all of us who name
Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
